Ways Milk Supports our Health and Immune System

Milk contains an abundance of nutrients and can benefit your health in multiple ways. By definition, it’s a nutrient-rich fluid that female mammals produce to feed their young. Milk comes from a lot of different mammals, but humans have popularized consuming milk from cows, sheep and goats. The makeup of milk is highly complex and contains vitamins, minerals, protein, and more. When it comes to nutrition, milk packs quite the punch and it doesn’t take a lot to benefit.

Milk Is Packed with Nutrients

Milk contains almost every single nutrient needed by humans. In addition to being fortified with vitamin D, milk is also a natural source of essential vitamins and minerals. These include carbohydrates, protein, calcium, phosphorus, potassium, and vitamins A, D & B12. As well as being a great thirst quencher milk’s nutritional value is quite impressive.

Impacts Bone Health

Milk and bone health go hand in hand. Dairy products are a great source of calcium which is the main mineral in our bones. In fact, nearly all our cells use calcium in some way. Milk is also a good source of protein, another key nutrient for bone health.

Strong Teeth

Your teeth and bones store 99 percent of your body’s calcium, according to the National Institutes of Health (NIH). This is why drinking milk can not only make your teeth and jawbone stronger but also help rebuild tooth enamel as well as prevent tooth decay. Because of all the minerals and vitamins in milk, it can help put back minerals your teeth might have lost due to other foods.

Build Immunity

Milk can also help in building up a stronger immune system, many fermented dairy products contain probiotics, good bacteria that help keep your body healthy. Cells of the immune system require a lot of fuel from various sources, including vitamins and minerals.  Milk is a product that contains all of these nutrients
