The Lactalis acquisition of various Kraft Heinz cheese companies is now finalized. The partnership was announced in September of 2020, but has been in the works for the last year and a half.

Kraft Heinz’s natural, grated, cultured, and specialty cheese products in the United States, as well as its entire foreign cheese business and its grated cheese business in Canada, are all included in the deal.

Lactalis will enter the grated cheese category in Canada as part of the acquisition, which includes production capabilities that will stay at Kraft Heinz’s plant in Montreal.

“The integration of Kraft Heinz’s Grated cheese business enhances Lactalis Canada’s capacity and capability to provide Canadian consumers with quality household brands and perfectly complements our growing portfolio of broad-based dairy products with the addition of parmesan,” said Mark Taylor, president & CEO, Lactalis Canada, in a press release.
